The Brewer Foundation
" . . .there are fewer investments more significant than building minds."

College Preparation

The Foundation supports students and parents through the admissions process; directly providing resources, instruction, and guidance.

The foundation conducts workshops for juniors and seniors; helping them navigate college application requirements and the submission of documentation. Students receive assistance with application essays, compiling their personal portfolios, and SAT preparation.

Creating Exposure

Exposure to colleges and universities is critical for students’ understanding of schools’ expectations of them, as well as what they should look for in their own post-secondary choice.

The Brewer Foundation will assist in developing this exposure by helping students take day trips to colleges in D.C. and the surrounding area and linking the students with college tour programs that exist throughout the DC metropolitan area.

When students travel to visit different types of schools; large state universities, small liberal arts colleges, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, schools in city-centers and schools in rural communities, they gain a huge sense of what college life is like and what setting is most suitable to their learning style.

As we introduce the students to all of the different alternatives, we will show them what to look for in a college, how to apply to college, and how to apply for financial aid. Students will have access to professionals who will conduct workshops that will cover all of these are areas.
